Flautist Carol Ann Savage began her flute studies in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, continuing her education at the University of Toronto, and the Hochschule fur Musik in Detmold, Germany. She has toured in Germany, Belgium, and Canada as a soloist with the Cologne Chamber Ensemble. Ms. Savage founded, and was Artistic Director for 15 years, of the innovative chamber concert series Music Umbrella. During those years, Music Umbrella presented music by more than 150 different composers, including 20 world or Canadian premiere performances. Carol Ann has been involved with live broadcast concerts for CBC, CJRT and WGBH (Boston), as well as recordings for Naxos Records. Carol’s freelance career has included being a member of the Mendelssohn Choir Orchestra, the Elora Festival Orchestra, and she is currently Principal Flute of the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, of which, she has been a member of the orchestra for more than 25 years. Carol has also enjoyed being the flute instructor for both Havergal College and Upper Canada College. Recently Carol has been exploring the possibilities of color and light in her own glass making studio.
