Known for “his ability to make the piano sing” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer), Eric Guo’s career opened after winning 1st prize at the Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw 2023 (with Mazurkas Prize). Most recently he appeared at festivals: Dvorak Prague International Music Festival (Czech), Frost Chopin Festival (Miami), Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Nohant Chopin Festival (France), Golden July Music Festival (Vienna), Duszniki Chopin Festival (Poland), Chopin and his Europe (Warsaw), Bolzano Festival Bozen (Italy), Paderewski Festival in Raleigh (USA), etc.

Appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras: Royal Philharmonic, {oh!} Orkiestra, Collegium 1704, Bach Collegium Japan, Ural Youth Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Minnesota Symphony, Frost Festival Orchestra (led by David Kim concertmaster of Philadelphia), Toronto Symphony, Drummondville Symphony, Ontario Philharmonic, Burlington Symphony Orchestra, Oakville Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Toronto, etc. Also an avid chamber musician, worked with: Colin Carr, Simply Quartet, Quatuor Elmire, Terra String Quartet, Tokai String Quartet, etc.

Since then he has toured in prestigious venues: Dvorak Hall in Rudolfinum (Prague), National Philharmonic (Warsaw), Chopin’s Birthplace in Żelazowa Wola, Lutoslawski Polish Radio (Warsaw), Chopin Museum (Warsaw), Dworek Chopin in Dusnziki (Poland), Krzysztofory Palace (Poland), Pszczyna (Poland), Lukaskirche (Dresden), Nohant (France), Salle Cortot and Bibliothèque Polonaise (Paris), Ateneo de Madrid, BOZAR (Brussels), Eroica Saal and Ehrbar Saal (Vienna), White Rock Theatre (UK), etc. In North America: Merkin Concert Hall in New York (aired on WQXR), Shalin Liu Performance (Rockport), North Carolina Museum of Art (Raleigh), Koerner Hall, Roy Thomson Hall, Four Seasons Center, Burlington Performing Arts Centre, Harbourfront Theatre, etc. In Japan: Hamamatsu Act City, Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Tokyo Opera City Hall, etc.

Top prize-winner of international competitions: PianoTexas, Minnesota e-Piano, Hastings Concerto Competition, Moscow Chopin Competition in Foshan China, and Canadian Chopin Competition (with Best Mazurkas and Concerto Prize), etc. Also CMC 1st Prize and Grand Prize.

Named CBC 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30 and recipient of 2023 Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Arts Grant in Piano. His CD from the competition was released by Chopin Institute during his recitals on Chopin’s 214th birthday in Żelazowa Wola and Warsaw Philharmonic.

Toronto native, started piano at 4 years old. Received Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (Honours) at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory, and currently in ADP Year 1 there under Prof. John Perry and Dean James Anagnoson. Alumni of Taylor Academy of The Royal Conservatory in Toronto. Previously mentored by David Louie, John O’Conor, Li Wang.
