FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra Receives $8,000 Project Grant from Ontario Arts Council
MISSISSAUGA, ON – [Date] – The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is thrilled to announce the receipt of an $8,000 project grant from the Ontario Arts Council (OAC). The support will enable the MSO to produce the orchestral world premiere of Refuge, a program by Canadian world-music masters, Sultans of String. Refuge speaks to the challenges facing the world’s displaced peoples through their stories, their songs, and their humanity.
The Ontario Arts Council funding will allow the MSO to eliminate financial barriers of access and enhance outreach efforts by providing 200 Refuge tickets to new Canadians. These efforts will allow the orchestra to remain committed to a main goal of broadly sharing the inspirational power of music with new audiences.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Arts Council for their support,” said Claudine Larochelle, General Manager of the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra. “This project grant is a testament to the value that OAC places on fostering cultural excellence and accessibility in Ontario. With their assistance, we are better equipped to serve our community and inspire future generations of music lovers and performers.”
